The Fight

The Fight

"The Fight" by RICHARD WRIGHT. the narrator believes that both his abilities to fight and defend himself are essential to his approval by his peers. His ideology leads him to put on a bold and courageous front which aids him in defending himself against his tormentor, thus setting his place in the school. I highly agree with the narrator's actions partly because Part of human development is the need or desire to interact with other human beings, their approval of ourselves is key to allowing ourselves to feel as though we fit in. My reactions would be the same, Two wrongs almost certainly never make a right, however there is also no justification for taunting other beings and at times we humans get provoked to certain point where an almost natural human instinct kicks in and we tend to act before we think, it natural to want to defend yourself. I don't know of anyone to whom this has happened to. I believe that in this world there are only two positions victimizer or victim in this case the narrator plays the role of the victim while the bully plays the victimizer ( in that he chose to taunt the narrator with his comment)" how come they make you people so ugly in Jackson".
